Tottenham 4-1 West Ham

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham impressed by bagging 4 against poor opposition in a West Ham side coping without their ‘best player’ Dimitri Payet. The manner of the victory has undoubtedly been a cause of excitement for players, fans and manager alike who all share the common belief and aim of reaching the top four and reaching the Champions League. If this team does manage to break into the top four, it will be the first since the days of Harry Redknapp and before Harry, the last time we were in Europe’s top competition was following the 1960-61 season, the best Tottenham Hotspur team of all.

Harry Kane has finally put to bed the suggestions that he is a ‘one season wonder’. The best goals per games ratio in London derbies is held by Kane who beats the likes of Thierry Henry with his 86%, 12 in 14. No other player has scored more Premier League goals in 2015 than Kane and he has already helped his team beat the likes of West Ham and Manchester City and get creditable draws with Arsenal and Liverpool. He still possesses the correct mental attitude and holds the ability of a clinical finish in front of goal. Kane is a team player, one of the many characteristics that feature in a Mauricio Pochettino football team.

Kyle Walker rewarded himself for his great form with a superb out of the boot finish, Tottenham’s fourth against their London rivals. Competition for position with Kieran Trippier has really brought the best out of Walker, as has competition for the left back spot improved the play of both Danny Rose and Ben Davies. These two components have added to a vastly improved defence which has been solid all season thanks to the inspired pairing of Alderweireld and Vertonghen at centre-half.

Tempers were fiery again, as it should be, and, with Alli picking up his 5th straight yellow card, it looks increasingly likely that Ryan Mason will be starting the Chelsea game, Spurs’ third consecutive London derby.

Can Spurs repeat their 5-3 success against Chelsea in January again this weekend and continue their great form with a win against Qarabag in the Europa League in Baku?
